Regent University - Library

Library Book Club: About

The Library Book Club was founded in 2008 on the premise that reading literature enriches life and improves our capacity to see the world through the eyes of another.

Inception and Overview

Overview

In February, 2008 the University Library launched a book club for the Regent/CBN community. The goal of the Book Club is to be a resource that will bring readers together and encourage reading for enrichment and pleasure.

Our reading list includes classics of western literature as well as non-western masterworks that support the Quality-Enhancement Plan on global competence. We read one book each month and then meet to discuss it with the aid of book-appropriate refreshments.

Purpose

The purpose of the Library Book Club is to encourage the reading of literary classics as well as contemporary works that may become classics.

Selection Criteria

We strive to read as diverse a list each year as possible. The main criteria for inclusion on the schedule are literary quality, readability and appropriate length, and projected interest by the Regent community.
