By searching for items through WorldCat and then clicking on ILLIAD, the system will automatically populate all the data needed for your book or article request. In a few clicks you can order an item or an article and be sure that all your information is accurate.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a FREE borrowing and loaning book service. ILL obtains books, articles, book chapters, and other research materials for students, faculty and staff.
Distance Students (DE) can request circulating books owned by Regent Library to be shipped to their home. Additionally, Interlibrary Loan will borrow books that are unavailable in the Regent Collection from other libraries. This service is available for DE students that live within the Continental United States. Please keep in mind that items borrowed from other libraries are first delivered to Regent Library, before being shipped to your address which will result in a shorter check-out period. Due to the shorter check-out period, you may want to consider using your local public library ILL department for this service.

Regent University Library participates in several reciprocal borrowing agreements that allow Regent students, faculty, and staff in-person borrowing privileges at participating college and university libraries throughout the United States and Canada at no cost. These programs are easy to use and are particularly useful to those living closer to a participating library - providing more convenient and faster access to materials than delivery via interlibrary loan.

Public patrons are not eligible for Regent University ILL services; however we encourage all public patrons to use their local public libraries for all ILL needs.
If you are a Law student you must register with ILL through Regent University Law Library. ACLJ should also use the Law Library ILL department for requesting materials.
ILLiad is the resource sharing management software used by Regent University Library to process all ILL requests. The ILLiad system allows patrons to place ILL requests, track requests, check due dates, renew items, and view ILL borrowing history. Every patron is required to fill out a one-time registration form to set up an ILLiad account. Each item must be requested online at Regent University Library’s website through the patron’s ILLiad account. Please DO NOT request textbooks!

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research". If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for copyright infringement.

Changing account information
Books, Scores, and other physical materials
Books and other physical materials will be available for pick up at the library circulation desk. You will receive an email notifying you of the ILL materials ready for pick up.
Articles & Book Chapters
Articles and book chapters will be posted as PDF files to your ILLiad account. To access them, login to your ILLiad account and click View/Download Electronically Received Articles. Please note that the PDF file is only accessible for 30 days!! If you want to keep the document save the PDF item to your hard drive or a USB drive.
To place a request:
On the request form:
1. Fill in the required information, such as Title and Author.
2. Click "Submit Request" at the bottom of the form to complete your request.
You may submit a request to renew your ILL materials directly from your Regent Interlibrary loan (ILLiad) account. Click on the link below to view brief step-by-step instructions on placing renewal requests.
Two key points to keep in mind are:
1. If you are initiating the renewal request through your ILLiad account, the request must fall within the 7-day window period of the item’s due date.
2. Your renewal request does not automatically renew the item. Renewals are ONLY granted at the discretion of the lending library. If a renewal is allowed, the average renewal period is 3 weeks. We will contact you upon our hearing back from the lending library.

ILLiad: The software used to manage Interlibrary Loan requests. You must register for an ILLiad account (one-time registration) before you can submit a request.
Due Dates: Are determined by the lending library. The average loan period is 4 weeks.
Renewals: Renewals are ONLY granted at the discretion of the lending library. If a renewal is allowed, the average renewal period is 3 weeks.
Recalls: The lending library may recall Interlibrary Loan materials at their discretion. Recalled materials must be returned to Regent University Library within two (2) days of notification.
Returns: Loan materials borrowed through Interlibrary Loan must be returned to Regent University Library's circulation desk.
Overdue items: A $1.00 per day will be charged for overdue Interlibrary Loan Books. Failure to return materials by the due date or recall date will result in a blocked ILLiad account.
Electronic Delivery: All copy requests are delivered as PDF files to your ILLiad account. Be sure to save the PDF file as it will automatically be deleted 30 days after delivery.
Problems: Please contact the Interlibrary Loan department as soon as possible. We will work with the lender to resolve the problem on your behalf.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service provider of research materials: books, periodical articles, movies, etc. ILL is a Library to Library service, lending libraries do not loan materials to individuals. Please use your Illiad account to request materials you need and we will find the libraries that hold these items.
Interlibrary Loan at Regent University Library is available only to current students, faculty and staff.
ILL will help you obtain research materials not available at Regent University Library. However, some items might be difficult to obtain from other libraries, such as:
If the material you have requested is owned by Regent, we will process your request and pull the item from our stacks. You will be able to come and pick it up from the Circulation Desk just like any other ILL request.
Please do not request textbooks through Interlibrary Loan. Interlibrary Loan cannot be used as a substitute for buying textbooks or other course required materials. Loan periods are rarely longer than 4 weeks and renewals are not always granted. Keeping a book longer than the loan period will cause your ILLiad account to be blocked, prohibiting you from requesting additional Interlibrary loan materials. Overdue books cause strained relationships with other providing libraries we rely on for supplemental research materials.
You may attempt to request theses and dissertations via ILL. If you need help finding additional resources for your research, please contact a librarian.
ILL books and materials can take 5 to 10 business days to arrive.
Journal articles usually arrive within three days, but can take up to 1-2 weeks to arrive.
Delivery time is dependent on the library sending the material, the availability of the requested material, and the accuracy of your request.
All ILL materials have an automatic email notification sent to Regent University email accounts or a preferred specified email account.
Book items may be picked up at the Circulation Desk. Journal articles will be made available as a PDF via your ILLiad account.
Journal articles are yours to keep.
Interlibrary Loan material due dates are set by the lending library. Renewals can only be given by the lending library. In order to request an ILL renewal, you must contact the Interlibrary Loan Department directly at email@example.com or Patty Hughson at 757.352.4424.
Renewals are not guaranteed and are not usually granted once the due date has passed.
Interlibrary Loan is a courtesy provided by libraries around the world and any conditions imposed by that library will be strictly observed. All items can be subject to immediate recall by the lending library. Borrowed items kept overdue by patrons create critical problems for Interlibrary Loan service. Lending libraries may cease to lend to our institution until all overdue materials are returned.

Returns: All returns must be mailed back to Regent University (Interlibrary Loan - Regent University Library - 1000 Regent University Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23464). You are responsible for return postage on all items that are shipped to you. We recommend that you use a courier with tracking and insurance so that you are not charged for books lost in return shipment.
PDF Copies of Articles or Book Chapters: Just like other students, Distance Students can request PDF copies of articles and book chapters.
