The Law Library is an access-controlled space. In addition to a Regent ID, current members of the law school community are issued an access card that permits entry to the Law Library during "extended hours." Law students are also given purple "Regent Law" lanyards. When entering the Law Library, each student should tap their access card. Law students should wear or display their access badge at all times.
Although Regent enjoys an exceptionally safe campus, student awareness is critical. Please do not leave valuable personal items unattended. The Law Library is not responsible for the personal items of its patrons. If you suspect a theft has occurred or need to report any other incident, please promptly contact RU Campus Police and inform a law library staff or faculty member on duty.

The Conversational Side is designed to facilitate group collaboration and low-level conversation. Noisy or loud conversation is not permitted, and devices must be muted.
The Quiet Side is set aside for individual study. Conversation should be brief and must be in hushed tones only. Phone calls are not permitted, and devices must be muted.
Violation of the noise policy may result in loss of carrel privileges.
A Student Lounge, with seating, an SBA-maintained refrigerator, a microwave, a toaster oven, electric kettle, Nespresso, Keurig, etc., is provided for Law School student use.
Food items may be stored out of sight on reserved carrels. Food should be consumed in the Student Lounge rather than on the Law Library Floor.
Beverages are permitted in spill-proof cups or other containers with lids. A water fountain equipped with a filling station is located near the Public Services Desk.
​Personal electronic appliances are not permitted in the Law Library.
Given the unique nature of legal materials, most of the Law Library's physical collection is non-circulating. For materials that do circulate, borrowing policies vary by user type. Circulating items may be borrowed by Law School students as follows:

Tidewater Consortium
Regent University is a member of the Tidewater Consortium for Higher Education, an association of 15 Virginia colleges and universities having reciprocal agreements for sharing their resources, including library materials.
Regent Law students may check books out from all member libraries. To do so, they must present the following:
Interlibrary Loan
If the book or article you need is not available from RU Libraries, or through a LOCAL member of the Tidewater Consortium (below), law students may submit a LAW InterLibrary Loan request.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Council of Graduate Students (COGS), the Law Library now has a limited number of laptops available for short-term checkout.
Laptop check-out is available to J.D. students only. The initial loan period is 4 hours, with only one renewal.
Laptops are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
