Bio of the Hons
Francis Dexter Jacobs Hon was born in Clarksville, AR, on December 19, 1913. She gave her life to Jesus Christ at the age of 19 in a tent revival meeting under the ministry of Mordecai Ham. As she continued in her newfound faith and in her Christian pilgrimage, she met and married Darrell Hon, who grew up in a Southern Baptist home. They started their married life in the middle of the great depression of the 1930s with absolute poverty. However, they ministered together in many small churches in Arkansas on the weekends. Dexter Hon was ordained as a minister of the Gospel by the Arkansas District of the Assemblies of God in 1939. In 1956, the Hon family moved to Baton Rouge, LA, where God blessed them financially through three business ventures. Soon their new home in Baton Rouge became a powerhouse for several mainline churches and pastors to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. The Hon family then relocated to Orange County, CA, in 1963, where Darrell Hon had become a successful real estate developer.
Darrell made a lasting contribution to the Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship by holding various key positions in that organization. He served as a member of the International Board and the Executive Board. He was elected to the office of Secretary, the position which he held until his death in 1975. After the demise of her husband, Dexter Hon was actively involved in lay ministry until she went home to be with the Lord in 2001.
