If you need a science topic to research, narrow down your topic into a question that most people do not know the answer to, or one that is controversial and debatable. In other words, find an important issue or problem that people wonder about.
For example, if your general topic is vaccines, these are some ways you can narrow it down:
1) how did early vaccines impact the spread of specific diseases, or which diseases are vaccines most effective for and still needed for?
2) how should vaccines be handled by governments—should they be mandated?
3) do vaccines have side effects or efficacy issues (not being effective) and if so, does this mean people should have freedom to get them or not get them?
4) did Covid vaccine mandates violate laws or human rights?
5) what were early vaccine controversies in the 18th, 19th , or 20th centuries?
6) are anti-vaxxers causing vaccines to spread now by not vaccinating their children? Should parents opt out? Should parents have the option?
7) Is RFK Jr. an anti-vaxxer and what is his position (and is it good or bad)?
8) do vaccines for common diseases like flu and Covid work or are there too many variations on the illness?
9) risks of vaccines historically or now, and weighing risks vs. benefits (cost benefit analysis),
10) Should vaccines be mandated for common good/public health or should we respect individual rights/freedom?
11) Is there any evidence vaccines cause autism or other serious side effects?
12) What are the risks of vaccines and are the risks worth the benefits? (cost-benefit analysis)
13) What about profits that pharmaceutical companies are making off of vaccines and mandated vaccines? Has the profit motive led "big pharma" companies to suppress information about side effects, risks, and effectiveness? Have they colluded with the government and its agencies, such as CDC? How has the government censored information and is this dangerous or are they right to do it to encourage more people to be vaccinated (example of social media censorship during Covid)
14) Why did the famous author George Bernard Shaw oppose mandated vaccinations over 100 years ago?
