Who Qualifies as a Visiting Student?

Regent University Library participates in several reciprocal borrowing agreements that allow students, faculty, and staff in-person borrowing privileges of participating college and university libraries throughout the United States and Canada to have direct user access to Regent University print resources at no cost. These programs are particularly useful for providing more convenient and timely access to materials to those living closer to a participating library or would benefit from the resources of Regent University Library. Users are responsible for returning checked-out material to Regent University and for any fees or charges incurred. 

We currently participate in the four (4) reciprocal/cooperative borrowing programs listed below. To learn more about these programs, including names of participating libraries, borrowing privileges, and more, simply click on the hyperlinks below or click on the above tabs. 

Partnering Virginia Universities/Colleges

  • The Virginia Tidewater Consortium (VTC) for Higher Education is a consortium of higher education institutions located in the Hampton Roads area of southeastern Virginia participating in reciprocal direct borrowing. 
  • The Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA) Cooperative Borrowing Program is a consortium of nonprofit academic libraries within the Commonwealth of Virginia participating in reciprocal direct borrowing. 

Partnering Christian Universities/Colleges

  • The American Theological Library Association (ATLA) Reciprocal Borrowing Program arrangement between participating North American ATLA Institutional Members to grant check-out privileges to each other’s patrons/students. 
  • The Association of Christian Librarians (ACL) Reciprocal Borrowing Program is a consortium of ACL institutions extending in-person borrowing privileges to authorized patrons from other ACL institutions. 

We also participate in non-reciprocal borrowing with individual institutions in local Christian high schools, colleges and homeschooling programs who wish to use Regent University Library. 

Local Christian High Schools & Colleges

  • Local Christian High School students include individuals aged 12 and older from any Christian high school in the Hampton Roads area that have applied for a partnership with Regent University to borrow materials from Regent University. 
  • Local Christian College students include individuals from any local Christian college or seminary in the Hampton Roads area that have applied for a partnership with Regent University to borrow materials from Regent University. 
  • An institutional partnership is available on a case-by-case basis, subject to approval by the Head of Access Services.

Local Homeschoolers

  • Local Homeschoolers include any homeschooled student aged 12 and above residing in the Hampton Roads area, regardless of thier homeschooling affiliation. 

How to Use Primo

All patrons, regardless of patron status, have access to open-access journals and ebooks only. Other databases and ebooks are only available for current Regent students.

How to Access Open Access Materials
